EFFECTIVE PROGRAMMING
"The Foundation for member retention"
Mission Statement: “Our future begins today” by setting the PACE to fewer suspensions with effective programming. Suspensions are a product of inactive members. Members are inactive because they lose interest. TEXAS KNIGHTS SET THE PACE in the order. By implementing planned programs, Texas will lead the order in net gain by SAVING members as an effective retention tool.

Plan ahead.
Appoint trustworthy committeemen.
Communicate plans to all members.
Encourage everyone to participate.
Plan ahead.
1. Schedule a planning meeting.
2. Grand Knight should discuss objectives for the year with Program Director.
3. Evaluate last year’s programs.
4. Utilize the Columbian Award application (SP-7) as a planning tool.
5. Plan programs that involve the council’s membership.
6. Propose awards as incentives to participate.
Appoint trustworthy committeemen.
1. Program Director should discuss objectives with committee chairmen.
2. Give committee chairmen a Surge With Service book before planning meeting.
3. Receive input from the committee chairmen on program suggestions.
4. GK, Program Director, and Committee Chairmen should follow through on plans.
Communicate plans to all members.
1. Website. Link your council news to www.tkofc.org.
2. Publish a newsletter informing membership of future plans and upcoming events.
3. Direct contact through Email or phone tree. Ask for reply to get a commitment.
Encourage everyone to participate.
1. Program Director reviews the MEMBER INTEREST SURVEY of new members.
2. Assign members to certain duties. Publish assignments in newsletter.
3. Develop a team structure using committees as teams and chairmen as team
leaders.
4. Develop a rookie team for all 1st degree members. Focus on “Shining
Armor Award”.
5. Be noticeable. Wear shirts, caps, badges, aprons, with council insignia.
